How It Works
The heart of the system is a smart battery combiner that handles connecting / disconnecting the batteries automatically.
When the engine starts, it allows the engine to charge the cranking battery first, then links the batteries together in parallel so they can both be charged by the alternator.
Once it sees the voltage drop below ~12.7v for a minute, it will separate the batteries. Your accessories connected to the bus bars continue to run from the second battery and won't drain your cranking battery.
Smart Combiner Specs
The heavy duty Smart Battery Combiner device is rated to handle 300 amps continuously flowing through it. It can handle higher amperage loads for shorter durations - 500 amps for 5 minutes, and up to 2,000 amps for 5 seconds. The combiner requires a minimum of 8 volts to operate. It does not consume any power to keep the batteries connected together, and it does not generate any heat.
Battery Size Required
Matching Group 25 batteries are required. The factory battery is not compatible.
Bus Bar Sizes
The Positive and Negative bus bars have 3 different size studs - - 3/8", 5/16", and 1/4" diameter for heavy cables for a winch, air compressor, fuse box, etc, and three #10 screws for attaching smaller ring terminals for your low amp accessories such as small LED lights.
Cable Size
Our battery cables are made with 2ga heavy duty, high strand count, pure copper welding cable. Why welding cable instead of battery cable? It's more flexible, more conductive, with a thicker, more abrasion resistant jacket for ultimate durability. The lugs are made of pure copper and tin plated which is more conductive and eliminates corrosion, then covered with an extra thick, adhesive-lined heat shrink material to fully seal the ends of the copper wire for long lasting performance.
Install Time
If you're handy with a wrench, and if you follow along with our detailed installation video, most people can install this kit in their driveway in 2-3 hours. If you prefer to have your local 4x4 shop install it for you, most shops will bill 2 hours for installation in a stock vehicle. If you already have some aftermarket wiring that needs to be rerouted to our bus bars or otherwise cleaned up, add to the installation time as appropriate.
Compatability
Fits Jeep Wranger JL with the 3.6L and the 2.0L Turbo engine, with or without eTorque.
Also fits the 4XE model but you may need to secure a factory wire harness located below the fuse box area to the bottom side of the new steel battery tray.
Get out there and explore.

FAQs
How long will it take to get my order?
Our products ship from our office in Olive Branch, MS, just outside of Memphis, TN. We work hard to keep everything in stock for same day shipping on most orders placed by 3pm Central time. Click here to see a map showing transit times by UPS Ground for the USA. You may select Expedited Shipping services on the checkout page if faster delivery is needed. Tracking information will be provided when we create your shipping label.
How can I hook up solar panels?
Most people want to use solar panels to be able to run their accessories for as long as possible with the engine off. You can connect the solar charge controller directly to our power and ground bus bars. The solar charge will go into your aux battery first to replace the power used by your accessories. As long as the panel is big enough to keep up with the demand and charge up the battery, then our smart isolator will link them together, and the solar will flow over to the cranking battery as well
How do I connect a charger to keep both batteries charged?
You can connect a charger to your factory positive wire on the cranking battery and the factory negative wire on the aux battery. This way the trickle charger works just like your alternator - it will charge the cranking battery first for a couple minutes, then the smart isolator links the batteries together to charge the aux battery as well.
I left my headlights/radio/dome lights turned on, and now the engine won't crank. I thought the system would turn off the cranking battery to protect it from getting too low.
The factory positive wire harness feeds power directly to your fuse box, which means all of the factory circuits are powered from your cranking battery. The isolator does not turn off power to the fuse box. It 'isolates' the 2 batteries from each other, to protect your cranking battery from being drained by your aftermarket accessories that you have wired up to the bus bars. If you accidentally drain your cranking battery, that's when you'd use the boost button to jump start yourself from the second battery.
My factory post clamps won't get tight enough on the battery post. It is loose and causing weird electrical issues.
Most factory battery post clamps are made of light duty stamped sheetmetal, and stretch or wear out over time. First, make sure the post clamp is fully seated all the way to the bottom of the battery post. Try loosing up the post clamp nut so it is very loose, then use a large socket and gently tap the clamp down onto the post. Now tighten the clamp nut and see if it is secure. You can also try using a battery post shim, available from your local auto parts store, to fill the gap between the clamp and the post, allowing the clamp to tighten down more securely.
Do I need an sPOD, or is it unnecessary since the kit has the power and ground bus bars for hooking up my accessories?
The sPOD system from www.4x4spod.com is a great compliment to our dual battery system. It allows you to easy add electrical accessories that need a fuse, relay, and a switch. It does have limitations, however, with the amount of current that can be used through any one switch. For example, you can't control a winch with it due to the very high amp draw for the winch. Our bus bars are perfect for connecting accessories that need direct battery power, or for those that come with a wire harness that includes a fuse, relay, and switch.
How do I connect an sPOD system to the dual battery kit?
The sPOD source unit should be connected directly to our power and ground bus bars. This way, anything that you are controlling through the sPOD will get power from the aux battery, and will not drain down your cranking battery.
Do you ship overseas?
Yes, we ship all over the world. We have customers in over 40 countries! Shipping costs will be calculated before you checkout.
Will this cause any error codes or dash lights?
The Jeep ESS system looks for a voltage difference between the main battery and the small auxilliary battery to determine whether the Start/Stop system is functioning correctly. Since our system does away with the auxilliary battery, that voltage difference doesn't exist. So, after 6 ESS events, the feature is disabled and will show a warning to service the stop/start system. This is of course a redundant warning since it is predictable and explained by the elimination of the small auxilliary battery. That cycle resets each time the vehicle is turned off and back on. The minimal drain from the few seconds spent at a stoplight is quickly replaced by the alternator while driving

Overall rating: 4.9 / 5 from 62 reviews.
Awesome product. Install was pretty straight forward, made much easier by the genesis vids available. I had to move and re-route my winch isolator so it took a while longer for install. Everything installed with zero alterations or mods ( which is nice). If there is anything bad to say, I would say that on the JL with v6, the dipstick had to be “adjusted” to allow access. Which is still difficult. Otherwise 5 stars.

Easy to install. Was a little tricky starting and stopping the Youtube video instructions but they were very detailed and everything fit. Getting everything off and out of the way took twice as long as just installing the batteries. Works great. It is a tight fit though. One thing you might do before the install is bend the dip stick tube a little more towards the engine as you will find out later you will need to tweak it out of the way.

Great kit looks great. Delivered on time and fast, packaging is top notch.

I have been looking at this setup for a very long time. When it was time to change out my battery, it was the perfect time to purchase and I have no regrets. I’m not a “mechanic” although I am handy with tools. The video installation made this a breeze and was spot on. The few questions I had just as reassurances after install were promptly and politely answered by Mike. I did find a new mounting spot for the g-screen module as you’ll see but everyone has the own twist on things. I’ve already recommended this upgrade to more than one person.

I love the system so far! The package was delivered super-fast, and the contents were well packaged. The install video was excellent, and I was able to follow along without issue. I took my time and install went just over 3 hours. I hated everything about the factory aux battery (location/issues caused when it was going bad). I'm now 100% confident with this system and peace of mind it provides (peace of mind is expensive thou). I did buy my batteries local at NAPA. There is a 3-year full replacement of the batteries. If I need to return them for some reason, I just drive over to NAPA. My only complaint is that the oil dipstick is butted up against the battery tray and takes two hands to get the dipstick in/out (see photo).

Very well built. It is a snug on my 2018 Wrangler 2l turbo. But just take your time and follow their video. The video is one of the best I have followed. Thank you, Ed.

Took about 6 hours to install including rerouting of pre existing add ons. Compressor, air pump, second 12v connector and a BLUETTI charger 1. The install is pretty straight forward, the YouTube video is definitely recommended. I used it as an instruction guide while working. Getting the battery tray out was the hardest part. Very much looking forward to giving this a good workout. Pay attention to how the batteries are reconnected! It is not how you think it should go.

I really like not having to worry about the small auxiliary battery anymore!
David D.5/5Verified
Kit installed very easy watched video first. Used extra bracket to mount my flat tow brake actuator for 2021 Rubicon. Thanks

I was stranded at WalMart when the accessory battery took out the staring battery. The Genesis solution was the best I thought. Took my time and used the Genesis how to video to do the install myself. It’s been a month now I KNOW the Genesis solution is the best!
Before, during and final install pictures.

So far very satisfied with the results. Easy to install watched the YouTube video how to install it as I worked. Everything was spot on. One happy customer

So nice to be done with the little aux battery buried under the power distribution box.
Ron T.5/5Verified
It works well so far so I am hoping it serves the purpose which it was purchased for! It was difficult to install it with the setup - I couldn’t do it myself I had to take it in to a mechanic to install it for me which added to the costs.

Very fast delivery and nice

Instructions are spot on! From taking out the old main and small aux battery to the fuse box, everything was crystal clear. No complaints whatsoever. Recommend getting the G-Screen if you run a snorkel so you don't need to lift the hood.
My only issue was with something that has nothing to do with the system itself. It really doesn't fit well with the Rugged Ridge AmFib Snorkel, at least not with the 2025 JLU 3.6.

Great device and easy instructions to install it. Looking forward to go camping without worrying about my Jeep to turn on. Pairing the dual battery with my spod is just amazing.

Makes a big difference when running
A fridge in the back. Also connected a 20 amp solar charge controller to it with quick connectors mounted to the bumper for connecting a 200-watt portable solar panel for charging without the need to run the Jeep.

Ordered two battery kit for gas wrangler. Be aware of cost of battery x 2. Also, no one in state carried the correct battery. Took 3-days and at a huge delivery cost. Question what do you do if out and about with dead battery?
Jerry Q.2/5
Loved the step by step install. Everything feels high quality

Let me start off by saying that I do like the Genesis Offroad duel battery system.I will also state DO NOT TRUST the install video. The install took almost a little over 4 hours. Two people working on just installing. A lot of the time was spent on fit, and refit due to cables being caught on different things or getting stuck when we had to push them out of the way to fit the carrier in (that was frustrating). The carrier went in well otherwise and is a fitted well.My biggest complaint: Shane. You make this look way to easy. Please add some "PRO Tips" to help make it easier. All in all I do like my battery system and think that it was worth the $1700 I spent on it. I bought the Gen 3 duel battery system, the G-screen, Batteries, and the connectors.
Jeffrey H.4/5Verified
All I can say is wow! This battery set up exceeded my expectations. Easy install and the build quality of the tray and the new Gen 3 cover are very well made. Added this set up to my Jeep JL along with the additional G-screen and 2 Odyssey batteries.

I purchase my Dual Battery kit in November 2022. Once I received everything I needed I could tell a lot research and development went into this kit justifying the cost. If you purchase this kit you will not regret it.
Richard K.5/5Verified
By far one of the best mods I've made. Look for the install demo video and it's a breeze. Far easier to install this than to remove the OEM tray. Highly recommend
Ryan S.5/5Verified
I'm pleasantly impressed with this both cosmetically, and functionally. Having the working bits covered was the first selling point. I have the previous version and all the bits are kinda dusty & I would routinely blow the dust off with a DataVac cleaner. The second feature is the multi-size bus bar connectors. It makes for a neater- & cleaner-looking appearance. I believe the bus bar cover hinge could be of a better design; I can see this breaking off at some point from repeated opening/closing. Nevertheless, it's a nice overall design improvement over the previous version.
Marc M.5/5Verified
Well made item, great customer service and huge gain in peace of mind having that ridiculous OEM second battery gone. Post on Facebook showing two main reasons wreckers are called out for JL Jeeps... Dead battery and Key Fob battery dead. Having had my second battery die in the rain on vacation out in the middle of nowhere I swore no matter what it cost/took I would eliminate the problem. This product eliminates the problem!
Dave E.5/5Verified
Love the product. Very simple to install took about an hour. Just ensure if you use optima batteries make sure you ask for the spacers for the batteries because optima batteries are not as tall as other batteries.
Shawn T.5/5Verified
Wanted to immediately change out the batteries in my Jeep JLUR so I could have 2 full size batteries for over landing and since I do a lot of offroad by myself. Its great insurance to know I have a back up battery at my finger tips. These folks did an outstanding job creating this set up with attention to detail! Very easy to install after watching the installation video. Great job folks!! I highly recommend this as a top of the list must upgrade modification to your Jeep or any vehicle they make a kit for.
Chad M.5/5Verified
Installed on w021 Wrangler JL Rubicon 2 door with eTorque engine, which has no sub battery underneath the main battery. Less cables to the fuse box terminal and was easier than the instruction video.I watched the installation video few time before open the hood. The video helps really well and was straight forward installation.2 door Wrangler cargo space is so limited even removing rear seat. I no longer need to carry heavy portable battery for the fridge with this dual battery kit. If you have 2 door Wrangler and looking for the camping/over landing storage solution, the kit is one of must have. Highly recommend!
Yoshi B.5/5Verified
This kit does for your JL what Jeep should have done from the factory. Very easy install. Their video shows you exactly what you need to do. You cant go wrong with their customer service either. Buy it, you wont be disappointed!! Thank you Genesis Off-road!
Patrick S.5/5Verified
The install took me 5 hours but it wouldve been much easier if I was taller. Works great and fits beautifully. Im happy I made the switch.
Kim5/5Verified
We installed the genesis dual battery kit with two odyssey batteries. The kit was professionally built and the quality is solid. The YouTube instructions were awesome. Everything went in as it should have. I routed the g screen wiring inside the factory harness channel. The batteries seem to float a bit in the tray as there is a bit of room between them. The cover for the accessory (+) battery seems pretty flimsy and doesnt stay in place.
Peter L.4/5Verified
This is a great investment, and although it cost a bit more than replacing just the start up battery it was worth it. The dealership I was going to charge me $400 just to replace the small start stop battery. So I figured why not put in a full-size battery in order to get the additional power and longevity. The installation was a breeze after watching the videos good
Cole H.5/5Verified
I watched the install video and it helped me step by step to install this. Was fairly easy to install. Much happier knowing i have extra battery power if ever needed.
