How It Works
The heart of the system is a smart battery combiner that handles connecting / disconnecting the batteries automatically.
When the engine starts, it allows the engine to charge the cranking battery first, then links the batteries together in parallel so they can both be charged by the alternator.
Once it sees the voltage drop below ~12.7v for a minute, it will separate the batteries. Your accessories connected to the bus bars continue to run from the second battery and won't drain your cranking battery.
The heavy duty Smart Battery Combiner device is rated to handle 300 amps continuously flowing through it. It can handle higher amperage loads for shorter durations - 500 amps for 5 minutes, and up to 2,000 amps for 5 seconds. The combiner requires a minimum of 8 volts to operate. It does not consume any power to keep the batteries connected together, and it does not generate any heat.
Matching Group 34 batteries are required. Note the Group 34R size has the posts in the wrong orientation. The factory battery is not compatible.
The Positive and Negative bus bars have 3 different size studs - - 3/8", 5/16", and 1/4" diameter for heavy cables for a winch, air compressor, fuse box, etc, and three #10 screws for attaching smaller ring terminals for your low amp accessories such as small LED lights.
Our battery cables are made with 2ga heavy duty, high strand count, pure copper welding cable. Why welding cable instead of battery cable? It's more flexible, more conductive, with a thicker, more abrasion resistant jacket for ultimate durability. The lugs are made of pure copper and tin plated which is more conductive and eliminates corrosion, then covered with an extra thick, adhesive-lined heat shrink material to fully seal the ends of the copper wire for long lasting performance.
If you're handy with a wrench, and if you follow along with our detailed installation video, most people can install this kit in their driveway in 2-3 hours. If you prefer to have your local 4x4 shop install it for you, most shops will bill 2 hours for installation in a stock vehicle. If you already have some aftermarket wiring that needs to be rerouted to our bus bars or otherwise cleaned up, add to the installation time as appropriate.

How can I hook up solar panels?
Most people want to use solar panels to be able to run their accessories for as long as possible with the engine off. You can connect the solar charge controller directly to our power and ground bus bars. The solar charge will go into your aux battery first to replace the power used by your accessories. As long as the panel is big enough to keep up with the demand and charge up the battery, then our smart isolator will link them together, and the solar will flow over to the cranking battery as well
How do I connect a charger to keep both batteries charged?
You can connect a charger to your factory positive wire on the cranking battery and the factory negative wire on the aux battery. This way the trickle charger works just like your alternator - it will charge the cranking battery first for a couple minutes, then the smart isolator links the batteries together to charge the aux battery as well.
I left my headlights/radio/dome lights turned on, and now the engine won't crank. I thought the system would turn off the cranking battery to protect it from getting too low.
The factory positive wire harness feeds power directly to your fuse box, which means all of the factory circuits are powered from your cranking battery. The isolator does not turn off power to the fuse box. It 'isolates' the 2 batteries from each other, to protect your cranking battery from being drained by your aftermarket accessories that you have wired up to the bus bars. If you accidentally drain your cranking battery, that's when you'd use the boost button to jump start yourself from the second battery.
My factory post clamps won't get tight enough on the battery post. It is loose and causing weird electrical issues.
Most factory battery post clamps are made of light duty stamped sheetmetal, and stretch or wear out over time. First, make sure the post clamp is fully seated all the way to the bottom of the battery post. Try loosing up the post clamp nut so it is very loose, then use a large socket and gently tap the clamp down onto the post. Now tighten the clamp nut and see if it is secure. You can also try using a battery post shim, available from your local auto parts store, to fill the gap between the clamp and the post, allowing the clamp to tighten down more securely.
Do I need an sPOD, or is it unnecessary since the kit has the power and ground bus bars for hooking up my accessories?
The sPOD system from www.4x4spod.com is a great compliment to our dual battery system. It allows you to easy add electrical accessories that need a fuse, relay, and a switch. It does have limitations, however, with the amount of current that can be used through any one switch. For example, you can't control a winch with it due to the very high amp draw for the winch. Our bus bars are perfect for connecting accessories that need direct battery power, or for those that come with a wire harness that includes a fuse, relay, and switch.
How do I connect an sPOD system to the dual battery kit?
The sPOD source unit should be connected directly to our power and ground bus bars. This way, anything that you are controlling through the sPOD will get power from the aux battery, and will not drain down your cranking battery.

Love it, install was just as easy as the video describes. All the parts that came with fit and no fabrication was needed. Seems to be a very well built and good looking product.
I replaced the 1st generation dual battery that I installed in 2016. This new generation is makes it much easer to connect the winch, sPOD, ARB lockers and compressor, and the hidden gps tracker. I only upgraded because it was time to replace the 10year old batteries i had in the previous generation system and I wanted a cleaner look. Yes I went a little crazy with the red paint pen on the engine cover.
Installed the dual battery kit along with the Big 7 kit from Jeep Cables. Added marine terminals with buss bars to simplify the install process. Once the factory wires had been removed from the loom, the install process was smooth. I will be adding a Switch Pro's panel to control all of my accessories. The collection of parts make for a strong and reliable power system.
Highly recommend for a Jeep JKU. Worked great for adding all my aftermarket accessories. No more dead battery with the dual setup. Installation was straight forward. Excellent instructions and the YouTube video was very helpful. Great quality!

Got this for Christmas from my wife as we go camping and run a light amount of electronics when we do. That and I have been left stranded by faulty deep cycle batteries as quality control ain't what it used to be. I now have piece of mind that if one battery fails the other will get me home. Installation was easy for me, I'm more of a parts swapper than a true mechanic. Honestly the hardest part was repositioning the old battery cables than anything else. Plastic cover arrived with a small defect, not a big deal but I like things perfect. After I sent an image of the issue to Genesis they sent a replacement without argument. Very happy to have this in my Jeep.

It’s a quality set up. Extremely well thought out and engineered. My only complaint it that is WAY thicker material and steel at that. It’s HEAVY. As a machinist and fabricator I would say .125-.187 thickness aluminum would be more than strong enough, especially with the bends that were used. It’s twice as heavy as needed. With the two batteries and the setup up my jeep leans. With this said it well made, isn’t going anywhere and is hands down better than any other set up there is. When I get a chance I will reverse engineer it laser cut it out 6061, bend it and then powder coat it. Good stuff all around.
Overall good product. Unfortunately, my 2008 there is an issue with the extra wire bundle harness that has to be routed under the new battery tray. It protrudes into the wheel well where it is exposed. Still trying to find a solution that will prevent inevitable future electrical issues.

Great Product! I had it installed for about 6 months. The product can handle off-roading. I had zero problems and works perfectly everyday. Was medium difficulty to install. Directions were understandable. I have 2010 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon.
Installed the Gen 3 Dual BATT kit in my 2013 Jeep JK. Instructions are detailed and spot on, also watch their you tube videos they are very helpful as well. Everything went together perfectly. I installed the kit with 2 new Odyssey batteries which I purchased from Genesis along with the Dual BATT Kit. I couldn't be happier with the purchase of this kit, I now have all the power that I need.
Product arrived well packed and in perfect condition. A rarity in the off-road aftermarket, but the instructions exceeded expectations. Removing and trimming the OEM plastic battery tray is probably the most challenging part of the install, but it really wasn't that bad. It is very rewarding to replace that plastic with this sturdy metal dual battery frame. Everything fits and is working great. Probably my favorite upgrade I've made to the Jeep. I highly recommend this system to anyone that has many accessories like me such as a winch, cooler fridge, CB & GMRS radio, and accessory lights.

This review has been a long time coming as I installed this set back in January. Literally a drop in system. Great video instructions are available and are easy to follow. The customer service support afterwards was also high standard. I have running board steps that parasite my battery. They just killed my factory battery so I upgraded to this and it performs as described. My Jeep went two months without being used and started right up. Plus they take care of us veterans. Fast shipping.

I purchased this product several weeks ago and decided to install it prior to a trip to New Mexico for July 4th. I am not good with electrical and have always chosen to let professionals deal with electrical issues/installs on my 2015 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited. I begrudgingly started the process on a Saturday afternoon. In no time, I had the original Jeep battery tray out and had the new one installed. At this point, I was fairly confident in their instructions and completed my install in no time flat. Once I had it installed, I noticed a red light on and the solenoid was very hot. So, I turned to Google and relaxed immediately. Two videos on YouTube addressed this very issue. It is normal and stopped worrying. My neighbor, who happens to be an electrician, saw me working on my Jeep. She is a Rubicon (JL Series) owner also. She came over to see what I was doing and see if everything was OK. I explained what I was doing and she looked everything over. She said all looked good and said she will be purchasing a Dual Battery Kit sometime soon. I can't thank Genesis enough for this product. Great quality too!

This American company really took this dual battery kit to another level. Quality craftsmanship and everything you need to install it in your Jeep. I thought this kit was a little overpriced at the time I ordered it, but I was wrong. Everything in this kit is high quality and the fit and finish is spot on. The cherry on top is the smart isolator and manifold system. I highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to upgrade to a dual battery kit. I will purchase the G screen monitoring system next. If you can change a battery you can install this. Wench, ARB comp, Fridge to the main polls and radios, lights to the smaller connections and it is clean and organized. Pays to get some wire tags to mark accessory wires. As far as operations it works as good as the batteries you choose.
