How It Works
Engine On:
Your alternator will charge the cranking battery as normal. All of your factory electronics will run from the cranking battery only. When the Redarc charger senses the engine is on, it begins charging your secondary battery while you are driving, using the optimal charging voltage for your battery type. The built in Green Power Priority™ feature will prioritize solar input when available, minimizing the load on your alternator and saving fuel.
Engine Off:
- All factory circuits or any aftermarket devices connected to the cranking battery continue to be powered by the cranking battery.
- All aftermarket devices connected directly to the aux battery continue to be powered by the aux battery and will not drain down your cranking battery.
Easy to Install:
The Omega system handles all the wiring for you, making it as easy as it can possibly be to install a Redarc DC-DC charger and an auxiliary battery. The system comes with the new steel battery tray to hold both batteries, the Omega lid with all the wiring integrated into it, a bracket for easily mounting the Alpha charger, and all the necessary hardware.
Monitor the status of your system by using the Redarc Redvision app. Search the app store for 'Redarc'. You'll first use the REDARC Redvision Configurator app to setup your new Alpha charger. Then use the Redvision by REDARC app to monitor the battery voltage, temperature, and charging levels from both the Alpha charger and from your solar panels (if equipped).
If your cranking battery is too low to start the engine, you can use the Redvision app to put the Alpha charger into Recovery mode. This mode will use power from your accessory battery to turn on the charger and charge up your cranking battery for 15 minutes. Learn more in our overview video here - Omega System Overview
The cranking battery must be a Group 25 size so that the factory positive post clamp can connect to the battery's positive post. If using an AGM accessory battery, we recommend a Group 35 size for the easiest installation. For a lithium accessory battery, we recommend the Dakota Lithium 135Ah battery. This is the only lithium battery on the market that is the correct size for our tray and can withstand under hood temperatures.

The Omega system's battery cables are made with 8ga heavy duty, high strand count, pure copper welding cable. Why welding cable instead of battery cable? It's more flexible, more conductive, with a thicker, more abrasion resistant jacket for ultimate durability. The lugs are made of pure copper and tin plated which is more conductive and eliminates corrosion, then covered with an extra thick, adhesive-lined heat shrink material to fully seal the ends of the copper wire for long lasting performance.
If you're handy with a wrench, and if you follow along with our detailed installation video, most people can install this kit in their driveway in 2-3 hours. If you prefer to have your local 4x4 shop install it for you, most shops will bill 2 hours for installation in a stock vehicle. If you already have some aftermarket wiring that needs to be rerouted to otherwise cleaned up, add to the installation time as appropriate.

FAQs
Do I need order post clamps?
The wires on the Omega lid have standard ring terminal lugs. If you buy an accessory battery with removeable posts, such as the Full River or the Dakota Lithium batteries, then you can bolt the Omega wires to the battery as shown in the photos at the top of this page.
If your accessory battery has fixed, non-removeable posts, such as the one from Odyssey, then you'll need some post clamps in order to attach the Omega wires.
We designed the Omega system this way in order to give you flexibility in how you connect your wires. Some people prefer to use a bolt directly into the threaded hole in the battery to secure any aftermarket wires. Some people prefer to use a post clamp. We offer a set of high quality, heavy duty marine style post clamps. These are made of cast copper and then tin plated for extra corrosion resistance and improved conductivity. They have a tall stud that is used to add any aftermarket wiring, and secured with a wing nut for easy serviceability.
How long will it take to get my order?
The Omega system and Full River or Odyssey Group 25 batteries ship from our office in Olive Branch, MS, just outside of Memphis, TN. We work hard to keep everything in stock for same day shipping on most orders placed by 3pm Central time. Click here to see a map showing transit times by UPS Ground for the USA. You may select Expedited Shipping services on the checkout page if faster delivery is needed. Tracking information will be provided when we create your shipping label.
Dakota Lithium batteries will ship from a warehouse located in Washington state.
Full River and Odyssey Group 35 batteries ship from a warehouse in southern California.
How can I hook up solar panels?
The Redarc Alpha and Classic chargers both have an integrated MPPT solar charger controller built in. No additional charge controller device is required. The Omega lid includes a 50 amp Anderson plug for connecting directly to your solar panels. If your brand of solar panels come with a different connector such as MC4 connectors, you will need an adapter to plug them into the Anderson plug.
How do I connect a charger to keep both batteries charged?
To use a traditional battery charger while the engine is off, you can connect it directly to the positive and negative posts of the battery that you wish to charge. The Omega system does NOT link the batteries together, like our Gen 3 system does, so that means each battery will need to be charged independently.
I left my headlights/radio/dome lights turned on, and now the engine won't crank. I thought the system would turn off the cranking battery to protect it from getting too low.
Please keep in mind that your factory fuse box gets its power directly from your cranking battery all the time. The Omega system does not link the batteries together in parallel like the Gen 3 system does. If you have the Alpha charger, you can use its 'Start Recovery Mode' feature which will charge up your cranking battery by powering the Alpha charger from the accessory battery for 15 minutes to help get the cranking battery recharged enough to start the engine. If you have the Classic charger, it does not have the 'Start Recovery Mode', so you'll need to use jumper cables to jump start the cranking battery from another vehicle.
My factory post clamps won't get tight enough on the battery post. It is loose and causing weird electrical issues.
Most factory battery post clamps are made of light duty stamped sheetmetal, and stretch or wear out over time. First, make sure the post clamp is fully seated all the way to the bottom of the battery post. Try loosing up the post clamp nut so it is very loose, then use a large socket and gently tap the clamp down onto the post. Now tighten the clamp nut and see if it is secure. You can also try using a battery post shim, available from your local auto parts store, to fill the gap between the clamp and the post, allowing the clamp to tighten down more securely.
How do I connect an sPOD system or other accessories to the Omega dual battery system?
The sPOD unit should be connected directly to the auxiliary battery's posts. This way, anything that you are controlling through the sPOD will get power from the aux battery, and will not drain down your cranking battery. Any other aftermarket electrical accessory should also be connected directly to the aux battery to avoid accidentally draining down your cranking battery.
