Q: I have the Switch pros 9100 with the SDHQ mount next to the battery, do you know if this will cause ant fitment issues of your kit? is the kit closer to the fender than a stock battery?

Asked by: Fares Al-Salahat - 2/18/2021
A: Based on the single photo on their site, it looks like the mount will interfere with the installation of this kit. The dual battery tray does install closer to the fender than the original battery.

Q: U said the 75/25 yellow top would need some material removed from the lid. Is that the top of battery or the top of the kit? Also Is it much work to remove the material, A file? grinder? cut off wheel? cutting torch? I have a 2019 jeep Rubicon 3.6, and I'm talking about the 75/25 optima yellow top battery.

Asked by: Rob - 2/7/2021
A: The lid referred to is the metal part that holds the batteries down. Any of the tools listed would be suitable to remove material, so once you get the batteries installed and the lid aligned you can choose the one that suits you best. Since we recommend using a specific battery size for our kit, we don't provide detailed instructions for modification to fit other batteries.

Q: Would it make sense to do a red top for the main cranking battery, and a yellow top for the secondary battery that drives accessories (Optima)?

Asked by: Chris Byrne - 2/3/2021
A: The Yellow Top 75/25 will not fit without removing some of the material on the lid. The battery posts are set more toward the center of the battery than standard Group 25 batteries.

Q: My apologies for the earlier question. The description below says it does not fit the EcoDiesel wrangler rubicon. Do you plan to make a dual battry that fits the 3.0L EcoDiesel? Thank you. Narith

Asked by: Narith Tith - 1/3/2021
A: Developing a new application is an extremely expensive and involved process. It can take months of R&D, and application selection is based very much on demand (or potential demand). Since the diesel Wrangler and Gladiator are entirely different than their gas-powered brothers, they'll require a completely new design rather than just updating an existing one like we just finished for the 2nd Gen Tacoma. With so few diesels on the road right now, there just isn't the demand we usually like to see for designing a new product. While it is definitely on the short list of new applications, it doesn't look like something that is going to be released in the near future. However, we always introduce a "Waiting List" when we are in the process of designing something new. Be sure to check back in a few months or follow our Facebook/Instagram to be the first to know when the waiting list is opened up.

Q: If I want to run a roughly 2000 watt amplifier for a subwoofer would this system be able to support that?

Asked by: Perry - 12/31/2020
A: Your sound system performance will depend mainly on your alternator output and any capacitors you're using. Our system is designed mainly to increases battery capacity, so there would be minimal improvement over the factory setup when talking about running a sound system. The main benefit there would be the added improvement from using AGM deep cycle batteries in place of the factory battery.

Q: I am currently running this system with two Full River 750-25’s and I know the solenoid gets pretty hot and that’s ok but how much of a parasitic draw does it pull to keep the solenoid closed ?

Asked by: Will Stuller - 11/15/2020
A: Depending on the state of the cranking battery, the solenoid draws up to 200mA while engaged (batteries connected). After either of the batteries reaches 12.7V and the batteries separate, that consumption drops to around 3mA.

Q: Can you use optima batteries ?

Asked by: Blackey - 10/25/2020
A: This kit requires two BCI Group 25 batteries. The Optima YellowTop 75/25 will not fit without modification to the lid. The RedTop Group 25 will fit without issue, but since it is considered a cranking battery it will not last long in deep cycle applications.

Q: I have an Spod already in my Jk. Is there any issue hooking this to the Genesis which is currently being installed at an offroad shop?

Asked by: Lenny M Libbey - 10/8/2020
A: The sPOD source unit should be connected directly to our power and ground bus bars. For the best connection, we recommend using a larger ring terminal on the positive lead so that it can be connected to the large center stud on the power bus bar. The sPOD's negative lead should fit the center stud on the negative bus bar.

Q: Jeep was sitting for a few weeks and something ran the batteries down to 0 (will have to figure out what the cause is) until I can figure out what the problem is I plan on using a trickle charger for extended periods of non-use, do I need to connect to the cranking, aux, or one post on each to charge them?

Asked by: Greg - 9/30/2020
A: You can connect a charger to your factory positive wire on the cranking battery and the factory negative wire on the aux battery. This way the trickle charger works just like your alternator - it will charge the cranking battery first for a couple minutes, then the smart isolator links the batteries together to charge the aux battery as well.

Q: i want to buy the dual battery setup for my 2020 jeep gladiator.... i would like to know if the auto start stop function of the gladiator will still be working? when engine is stopped at a light will my stuff still work until the engine turns back on? thanks

Asked by: frank - 8/28/2020
A: Because of the logic programmed into the start/stop system, it will stop functioning after 6 cycles. This means the engine will not turn off at a stop following the 6th event, and until the engine is cycled manually again. Until that time, everything will work as it always has, with everything staying on during an ESS event. This only happens on the 3.6L engine.

Q: Have they fixed the issue of start stop not working after 6 stops or is that still a problem.

Asked by: Robert Lamorte - 8/6/2020
A: Due to programming in the Jeep's software, the ESS stops after 6 stop/start events with our system installed. Evidence on forums, Facebook groups, and in-person conversation suggests that most people don't like the ESS feature on the JL and the majority of people either turn it off regularly or use a programmer to permanently disable it. At this point in time, neither Jeep or Genesis Offroad considers the 6-event limitation as an issue that needs to be solved. We plan to post a video on our Youtube channel with more details in the near future.

Q: I have a 2020 JLU 2.0 Rubicon, Will installing your system have any effect on the factory warranty?

Asked by: Steve - 8/2/2020
A: Technically, any modification to your vehicle has the potential to void the factory warranty. This would be a better question to pose to your favorite dealership, as they make the final decision on what is and is not covered under warranty. Our system makes no modification to any factory warrantable item (i.e. the battery), so in our opinion it should not affect any warranty concerns. In addition, we have numerous new Jeep dealerships that install our kits on brand new vehicles.

Q: Will this work with the The Cascadia 4x4 VSS System?

Asked by: Fred - 7/27/2020
A: This kit will work with the Cascadia system. You can connect the solar charge controller directly to our power and ground bus bars. The solar charge will go into your aux battery first to replace the power used by your accessories. As long as the panel is big enough to keep up with the demand and charge up the battery, then our smart isolator will link them together, and the solar will flow over to the cranking battery as well.

Q: Does the stop/start system continue to operate just as before? Which battery does it draw from?

Asked by: Ron Huffman - 4/30/2020
A: The ESS will continue working up to 6 times per startup. After that, the ESS stops functioning and an error message appears on the dash. When the Jeep is turned off and back on, the count starts over. During a stop/start event, the electronics (headlights, radio, fans, etc) will run off of both batteries, assuming they are connected at the time. Otherwise, they will run from the main battery.

Q: Hello, I am looking into getting this setup for my JL. I have the aux upgrade with my jeep that comes with the 4 aux buttons built in. The main purpose for the dual batteries is to run my dometic fridge and some aux lights. Right now I just plug the dometic into the back 12v plug. But I am wondering if, once I get this setup, I will also have to pay to get a kit to re-wire the back 12v into the aux battery or if that back plug already runs direct to the aux. Thanks!

Asked by: Kaela - 3/17/2020
A: All of the factory circuits, including the factory 12v outlets and the 4 aux switches on the dash, are powered through the fuse box, which gets its power directly from the cranking battery all the time. This means you can still drain your cranking battery by leaving the radio on too long, or running a fridge from the 12v outlet. Any aftermarket accessories should be powered from the power & ground bus bars on our kit so that they will run from the second battery and not drain your cranking battery. We recommend using a dedicated 12v outlet that is wired to our bus bars to power your fridge. Please click on the 'Power Outlets' category for more details on that!

Q: With the dual battery kit, can I use one starter batter and have the second battery be a deep cycle or lithium ion battery?

Asked by: Dom - 3/8/2020
A: You can use a starting battery and a deep cycle, but they must be the same battery type, meaning either both lead acid, or both AGM. You should not mix battery types, such as a lead acid with an AGM or a lithium, because they charge differently, so mixing them will lead to reducing the lifespan of both of them.

Q: Do optima batteries work for the jeep JLUR model?

Asked by: Mike - 1/21/2020
A: Yes, you can use a Red Top 25 (part number 9025-160) or the Red Top 75/25 (part number 9022-091) and a Yellow Top 75/25 (part number 9042-218) or two of the Yellow Tops. The caveat with Optima is the small raised vents on top. You can put a spacer on top of that battery so that our lid will sit level. We recommend Odyssey batteries due to their superior capacity and CCA.
