Q: Can I use 2 Group 34 Lithium batteries? and would you recommend it? Thanks.

Asked by: Devin - 12/12/2020
A: Based on information available to us, we do not recommend lithium batteries. Our kit simply directs the flow of charge from your alternator and whether the batteries are combined or separated. Please contact your lithium battery manufacturer to discuss how their batteries can be used.

Q: Dear Sirs, Per your recent post in 2018, it indicates the battery tray is stronger and easier to mount. Has your company updated the battery tray to prevent drilling holes into "body" on the 3rd Gen Tacoma Thanks, Dave

Asked by: Dave - 11/19/2020
A: Our dual battery kit still requires the use of nutserts to secure the tray to the body. The updates have to do with the rigidity of the mounting platform as well as the configuration of the holes.

Q: Can I run a High Output Alternator 270 Amp / 14.8 Volt with this Genesis Dual Battery set-up?

Asked by: PROTACO - 11/9/2020
A: Most aftermarket alternators work fine with our systems. The isolator is rated at 200A continuous with peaks up to 750A for 10 seconds. Check the output curve on the alternator as the max output is generally not achieved at all RPM.

Q: How does this system work if I want to add a solar panel for charging?

Asked by: Steven Boley - 9/16/2020
A: Most people want to use solar panels to be able to run their accessories for as long as possible with the engine off. You can connect the solar charge controller directly to our power and ground bus bars. The solar charge will go into your aux battery first to replace the power used by your accessories. As long as the panel is big enough to keep up with the demand and charge up the battery, then our smart isolator will link them together, and the solar will flow over to the cranking battery as well.

Q: What is a g screen? Also does the 5 hundred and something include the batteries?

Asked by: Brandon - 6/27/2020
A: The G Screen does a few things. First, it allows you to monitor the voltage levels of both batteries from inside the vehicle. It also serves as a remote status indicator, showing whether the batteries are connected or disconnected. The remote boost capability allowss you to jump start the engine from inside the cab if your cranking battery is dead. The $529 battery kit does not include batteries.

Answer provided by: Mike Heverly (6/29/2020)

Q: Could the second battery be used to power a 12volt system in a slide-in camper? So the battery is charged by the truck and then used by the camper. Also, could that 2nd battery be re-charged by a external charger powered by and different source than the truck (like by a generator or outlet)?

Asked by: Eric Spurgeon - 6/24/2020
A: You can use the second battery to power the camper, yes. Lots of customers use our kit for trailer power, so powering a camper would be no different. Also, many customers use solar, generator, or shore power to charge their batteries, so multiple sources are acceptable.

Q: How does this work with the 3rd gens “smart” alternator that shuts off when the start battery is fully charged?

Asked by: Andweb - 4/26/2020
A: SInce the batteries are connected in parallel, they appear as one while the solenoid is energized. The "smart alternator" is not recognizing one battery as the cranking and the other as the accessory battery. The batteries are charged as a bank rather than individually.
